Bodhi Tree News

Urgent Appeal - 8th April 2012

This easter friday, Bodhi Tree Retreat Centre's much loved and valued tractor was burnt to the ground.

The fire department was called, but thetractor did not survve intact. Most fortunately the volunteer who was using it at the time managed to escape the flames and was not hurt in any way. As the tractor was not covered under insurance, we are now in desperate need of a new tractor to help maintain the property.

Anyone who is able to make a donation, no matter how small toward the purchase of a replacement, please visit our donation page. If you think you might be able to help in anyother way, please contact us.

Webmasters at Bodhi Tree!

Ven. Pannyavaro, webmaster of BuddhaNet.net and founder and resident teaching monk at Bodhi Tree has initiated a collaborative partnership arrangement to develop a Buddhist digital resource library and eLearning on the Net - the World Buddhist eLibrary. The Buddhist eLibrary project is a work in progress, which we will be launching shortly.

Ven. Phramaha Werapong, webmaster of Mahaculalongkorn Buddhist University Bangkok - which is a major partner in the eLibrary - is working on the Thai version of the Buddhist eLibrary here at Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery in Northern NSW Australia - far removed from the hussle and bussle of Bangkok!

Using the Envirofund we have planted up to 1,500 rain forest tree along our creek and rock pool. We had a bit of a setback in the winter with a severe frost when we lost approximately 80% of the young trees. Nevermind, we have replace the damaged plants and with a wet summer the trees are thriving.
